Jabarrgwa bark paintings are usually on a rectangular bark where the background is painted black. Unlike many early Elandt Groote bark painters Jabarrgwa does not just paint a single totemic animal. His paintings were of legend stories of the origins of his people and their land. He is one of the few early Eylandt Groote painters to often incorporate figures into his barks.
He also incorporated Totemic animals into his bark including Brolga Lizards Eagles Kangaroos and turtles.
Along with many other Arnhem Land Artists who did bark paintings, there is not a lot of information readily available about Jabarrgwa Kneepad Warrabadalumba other than he was born 1896 and died in 1975. If anyone knows more information about the biography of Jabarrgwa, please contact me as I would like to add it to this article.
